Safe Vape Disposal

Worcestershire County Council are encouraging people to dispose of their vapes correctly after fires in bin lorries.

The fires may have been caused by a vape or electrical item being thrown away in the green bin.

These items contain lithium-ion batteries that can get crushed in bin lorries and recycling plants, causing a dangerous fire.

The whole load has to be dumped onto the road and then sent for disposal rather than recycling.

Make sure you dispose of old vapes properly at your local Household Recycling Centre or a dedicated collection point where you buy your vapes. By recycling vapes, the precious metals can be taken out and used again.
